Alexander Hamilton Elementary School is
a K-5 elementary school, which values a strong sense of community. At
Hamilton, we support the academic, social and emotional development of
students through a rigorous curriculum, a highly professional, dedicated
staff, a caring parental community, and conscientious, hardworking
students. We work collaboratively with the other schools in our
community to promote learning excellence throughout the town.
Our professional staff takes the learning of our community very
seriously. Our teachers converse continuously about effective teaching
methods and current educational research. They are involved in
professional development, both as presenters as well as learners, and
set high learning expectations for our students. As a staff, we foster a
safe and respectful learning environment throughout the building.
The community is committed to creating a learner-centered environment,
where the individual strengths of students are celebrated and developed.
We focus on strengthening each child’s unique approach to learning and
addressing the needs of students through differentiated instruction.
Our Home and School Association provides extensive funding for
additional programs and supplies, which helps us continue to strive for
high achievement. To keep active communication between parents and
school, Hamilton School produces a monthly newsletter for all parents.
Parents’ attendance at all school-wide events is high, and we count on
parent volunteers throughout the school day in a variety of ways.
Alexander Hamilton follows the Glen Rock curriculum, which is a
developmental approach to learning. We teach children reading, writing,
speaking, listening, mathematics, social studies and science as a
continuum through self-contained classrooms (K-5). Children learn
enriching developmentally appropriate skills in physical education, art,
instrumental and vocal music, world language, technology, and library
skills.
